Kids in Concert - 2014
CELEBRATING THE ARTISTIC TALENTS OF NEW JERSEY’S PUBLIC SCHOOLS
The theme of this year’s show is "The Laws of Motion." Candidates may gain inspiration for their submissions from anything that is tied to motion. All acts should represent a type of transportation, forward thinking in the arts, or any creative design element that epitomizes the law of motion.
Stage performances typically range from vocalists, jazz ensembles, concert choirs, theater groups, gospel choirs, orchestras, pianists, dance groups/soloists, spoken word poetry, monologues, step, tap, and sign language.
The event will take place on Friday, March 28, 2014 at Long Branch High School, a state-of-the-art school facility with a premiere performing arts auditorium, giving students the opportunity to perform before family, friends and members of the community.
If a group or soloist from your school is interested in participating in KIC – 2014 fill out an on-line audition application, and submit a live video audition (no longer than 10 minutes). The audition selection should best reflect the spirit and talent of your group.
All applications and audition VHS/DVD can be mailed or faxed to:

On Friday, March 28, 2014, Long Branch High School, a state-of-the-art school facility with a premiere performing arts auditorium, will serve as venue for ELC’s 16th annual Kids in Concert (KIC) event. Now in its sixteenth year, KIC is a unique concert experience that exposes students of all ages and abilities to the performing arts! As the name implies, Kids in Concert is designed to provide students in New Jersey’s high need school districts the opportunity to develop and perform on one stage.
Since 1997, Education Law Center (ELC) has partnered with the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) to host this memorable event. It is the Education Law Center’s vision to continuously celebrate the extraordinary talents of students attending New Jersey's public schools. Every public school operating within a high need district of New Jersey is invited to enter the KIC competition. Under the supervision of a professional artistic director, 200 students in Kindergarten through 12th grade perform original pieces based on a pre-selected theme.
