NJDOE ISSUES INCOMPLETE ABBOTT REGULATIONS

NJDOE has adopted programmatic regulations for the Abbott districts for FY2006, but has not issued fiscal regulations. ELC has been advised by Acting Commissioner Lucille Davy in a letter dated September 23, that the fiscal regulations will be drafted in the next few weeks, and "if any changes [to the programmatic regulations] need to be made, or any clarification is necessary, we will have an opportunity to modify the regulations at that time."

ELC urges advocates and those concerned about improving instruction and learning in the Abbott schools to review the regulations and submit comments and concerns to Acting Commissioner Davy. The regulations, titled "Improving Standards-Driven Instruction and Literacy and Increasing Efficiency in Abbott School Districts" are available on DOE’s website.
