President - Provident Bank
Kids in
Concert (KIC) the annual benefit concert for Education Law
Center will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2007, beginning
at 7:30 pm, at The
State Theatre New Brunswick. KIC celebrates the
talents of public school children in New Jersey's 31 Abbott
districts.
Participating groups and soloists will showcase their talents
through song, dance and instrumental performances. With the
direction of a professional Artistic Director, KIC participants
perform original pieces creating a unique concert event.
The KIC selection process begins in September. Schools are
sent a request to audition and invited to submit video and
audiotapes for review by a selection committee. The KIC Artistic
Director chairs the committee. Groups are chosen based on
quality, creativity and type of performance.
By
the end of January, the committee notifies the selected participants.
The Artistic Director then works with the students to develop
and stage the concert event.
Before the concert, participating students meet each other
and rehearse the show. A final rehearsal takes place the day
of the concert. When the curtain rises, the students are ready
to entertain their parents, friends, teachers and supporters.
