On
May 13th, the State Theatre in New Brunswick serves
as the venue for Education Law Center's 10th annual
Kids in Concert. Kids in Concert 2008, will mark the
10th Anniversary of continuing to celebrate the extraordinary
talents of students attending New Jersey's urban public
schools. The theme of this year's concert is "A Celebration
of Student Success". We are asking students to creatively
express what Educational Success holds for them. Our
goal is to create a unique concert experience that combines
many forms of the arts on one stage.
Every
urban school is invited to enter the KIC competition
by creating their own artistic interpretation reflecting
on what Educational Success holds for them. We are looking
for a variety of groups and soloists including, but
not limited to:
Vocalists,
jazz ensembles, concert choirs, theatre groups, gospel
choirs, orchestras, pianists, dance groups/soloists,
spoken word poetry, monologues, step, tap and sign language.
If
a group or soloist from your school is interested in
participating in Kids In Concert please send an audition
VHS/DVD (no longer than 10 minutes) reflecting the theme
of this year's show. Please include with your submission
the name of your school, group, district, number of
students in your group and contact information.
