The
"Kids in Concert" Event Committee and the Education Law
Center (ELC) are looking for performance soloists and groups to
audition for "Kids in Concert - 2005." This year's performance
will take place on the evening of May 12, 2005 at the State Theatre
in New Brunswick, NJ. Children auditioning must attend a public
school in one of the thirty-one
Abbott districts.
The
theme of this year's show is A Celebration of FREEDOM. We are asking
students to creatively express what FREEDOM means to them. Be as
unique and innovative as possible! We are looking for vocalists,
jazz ensembles, concert choirs, theater groups, gospel choirs, orchestras,
pianists, dance groups, spoken word poetry, monologs, step teams,
etc.
If
your school is interested in performing in KIC, please submit a
VHS or DVD of a performance from either this year or last year as
soon as possible. New performance tapes are not necessary.
The tapes should be no longer than (10) minutes.
We
would also like to invite students to participate in our poster
contest, which is centered around the same theme. Please submit
a 17"x 22" poster. A winning poster will be selected from
each school level (elementary, middle, high) and presented at a
reception prior to the concert on May 12, 2005. Poster contest winners
will receive a $500 savings bond courtesy of the Urban Schools Superintendents
of New Jersey.
